It has 21 members consisting of the Fire Chief, 1 Administrative Assistant, 3 Captains, 3 Drivers, 1 Training Officer, 3 Arson Investigators, 1 Fire Inspector, and 9 Firefighter / EMT's. All personnel are cross-trained for both fire suppression, EMS and rescue. See List of Covington Fire Department Personnel.

The Covington Fire Department operates from 2 Fire Stations, 3 Pumper Trucks, 1 Aerial Tower, 1 Rescue Truck, 1 Brush Truck, 1 Tanker, 3 Utility Vehicles, 1 Command Unit and a Level III Hazmat Unit that covers all of Tipton county and surrounding counties.

The Fire Prevention Bureau provides fire investigations, fire inspections, code enforcement, plan reviews, and public education.

The Training Division works in cooperation with the Tennessee Fire and Rescue Institute and is a member of the Tennessee Council of Fire and Rescue Academies.
